Product Description

Harlan Michaels is a powerful trial lawyer who usually flees romance as quickly as his Gucci loafers can carry him. He's immersed in a deadly wheel case when he meets Lana Stewart, a therapist, who is treating his orphaned client. He's immediately intrigued by the long legged blonde's indifference to his wealth and stature. Lana longs for a romance that's like an old Cary Grant movie. When Lana recognizes Harlan as her fantasy hero, she emerges from her cocoon like a butterfly.

About the Author

Mary Matthews writes contemporary and historical romance and mysteries. She lives in Southern California with her family.

Abby Green's Breaking the Sheiks Rules Contest - International

I loved this book so much I went out and purchased it to share with those of you who love romance and the genre.

Description:  (corrected)

The huge imposing castle and the barren terrain of Merkazad are a far cry from the modest farm and the emerald fields that horsewoman Iseult calls home. Or used to, until Sheikh Nadim bought her family's stud farm. As part of the deal, she must work at his royal stables….

Nadim enrages Iseult…but he also inspires a more unwelcome, unfamiliar feeling: desire. Drawn into Nadim's sensual world, Iseult feels like a beautiful, confident woman for the first time.

But she must remember the sheikh's cast-iron rule….

About the Author:

I've been hooked on romance novels for as long as I can remember, and it all started one day in my grandmother's bedroom in the west of Ireland where I spent all my summer holidays. She had taken one of the distinctive rose emblemed books out of the library, and being a voracious reader, I devoured it in one sitting. It could have been a Penny Jordan, or a Sally Wentworth, I can't remember now. But what I can remember is being swept away into a story that was passionate and romantic and wanting more.

The fact that I am now writing for that company is a dream that still hasn't quite sunk in, although deadlines and readers figures are helping a little!

I've lived in Dublin all my life but was lucky enough to spend a lot of time in Kerry with my grandmother. Ireland is a vibrant, ever changing and growing country, and especially Dublin its capital.

I've been working pretty much since the day I left school in the film industry as an assistant director, getting in on the very lowest rung and working my way up. It's been a fascinating and engrossing career. It also gave me the opportunity to work abroad which was such a gift. But, the hours are long, the work is extremely hard and the situations can be very stressful. Not to mention the weather conditions, especially here in Ireland! I'd often thought of trying to write a Mills and Boon and when a friend lent me a guide to writing one, the idea just wouldn't go away.

Many years of procrastination later, I finally sat down and put pen to paper, or finger to keyboard. My first and second attempts were both rejected, albeit with encouragement, and at that stage I was determined so I didn't give up. I sold my first manuscript to Mills and Boon Modern Romance in March 2006, and have been living my dream since then.

I can honestly say to any aspiring author out there that it really is worth it to keep trying, the only difference between an unpublished author and a published author is persistence, I truly believe that.
Good luck to anyone out there trying to get published and just believe that you will.  Abby

Thanks to Harlequin Ambassador's Program, I have (4) copies to read of Kathie Denosky's book. I finished it last night. It's actually a series book. Jake Garnier's father was not a nice man. He left first his mother pregnant with twins (he and his brother), only to return and get her pregnant with his sister. The mother died in a car crash and the boys raised their sister.

Years later, their maternal grandmother found all of her grandsons and daughters and she was one of the wealthiest women in the US. She wanted them to be happy and arranged for their happiness by matching them up to be married.

Jake and Heather's story was a very pleasant read. It's received 13 reviews at Barnes and Noble for 4 1/2 Stars.

Description:

Becoming the new owner of Hickory Hills Thoroughbred farm was not in billionaire Jake Garnier's plans. Becoming a father was even more unimaginable. For his new business came with one Heather McGwire, ranch manager…and mother to Jake's secret child.

After barely surviving his own father's desertion, Jake knew he couldn't walk away from his responsibilities. Marriage seemed the only solution. Yet Heather wouldn't settle for simple sweet talk and seduction. If Jake wanted a real family, he'd have to saddle up for the long ride.

Meet Kathie:

Kathie writes at night with country tunes playing from a local radio station while the rest of the world sleeps. It's the quiet time of the night that inspires her to craft her stories with a unique style of sensuality, interspersed with a little humor.

Kathie has been a Romance Writers of America Golden Heart finalist twice. Her June 2001 release, His Baby Surprise, received the National Readers' Choice Award for Best Short Contemporary Romance of 2001. All of her books have been listed on the Waldenbooks Category Romance Bestsellers list.

Kathie lives in the Illinois area her family settled in the early 1800's when they moved from North Carolina. Besides writing, Kathie loves to read romances, travel to historic locales, and delights in trying to rid the world of chocolate -- one bite at a time! She also enjoys meeting readers and writers at the numerous conferences, workshops, and book signings she attends.

To win a copy tell me if a woman finds herself pregnant, do you believe it's her obligation to contact the father? Don't forget to leave your email address.  Contest link here

Annie West News and Contest

ANNIE WEST’S NEWSLETTER - May-June 2011

I’ve got news of free books, new releases and awards to share.

I’m starting the newsletter with a photo I took just last weekend in the Dandenong Ranges north east of Melbourne. It was a fleeting interstate trip for a family celebration but we managed a gorgeous day in the mountains where the tall trees were shrouded in mist and the occasional showers made us appreciate a cosy cafĂ© even more. Just lovely! Whether you’re moving into autumn like me, or a northern hemisphere spring, I hope you’re enjoying the change of season.

It’s been an eventful couple of months. I was lucky enough to attend the Australian Romance Readers’ Convention at Bondi Beach, had a very busy family Easter and have been working hard on my latest story. In book news I was thrilled to learn that PASSION, PURITY AND THE PRINCE aka PROTECTED BY THE PRINCE won a CataRomance Reviewers Choice Award! More recently, FORGOTTEN MISTRESS, SECRET LOVE-CHILD has made the finals of the Write Touch Readers’ Choice Award. You can imagine how happy I was to hear that news.

Right now it’s release time for PRINCE OF SCANDAL in the UK and Australia/New Zealand. Raul and Luisa’s story has been on sale in the UK since mid April and it goes on sale Down Under on 1st June. I’ve included both covers as I’m so pleased with them. Notice that gold logo on the Aus cover? Raul and Luisa’s story has been made ‘Book of the Month’ for its Australian release! Yay!

This book is about Raul, cousin to Prince Alaric in PROTECTED BY THE PRINCE. If you didn’t read that first book don’t worry, they’re stand alone stories. Though for those who enjoyed reading about Alaric and Tamsin, they appear in PRINCE OF SCANDAL. Here’s the back cover copy:

Ruling prince...

Raul, Prince of Maritz, is furious that an archaic law is forcing him to wed. But scandal and unrest has dogged this prince for years, and a marriage to recently- discovered princess, Luisa Hardwicke, will help bring stability to the monarchy.

...reluctant princess

Only Luisa is an outspoken, mud-splattered, farm girl, who isn't going to come quietly! Even as she's reluctantly transformed into polished perfection, Luisa challenges Raul at every turn, and he finds himself anticipating their wedding night with an excitement he never imagined he’d feel...

I’ve recently had some other wonderful book news. It's particularly good for those people who’ve written to me about titles that hadn’t made it into North American release. Advice just this week from my editor: THE SAVAKIS MISTRESS will be a Presents Extra edition in November in North America. This story finalled in both the Australian Romance Reader Awards and the Award of Excellence Contest and attracted lots of positive feedback including a 5 blue ribbon review at Romance Junkies. I’m absolutely thrilled to hear it will get a US release.

Another book getting its first US release is RAFE’S REDEMPTION which was sold in other markets as THE BILLIONAIRE’S BOUGHT MISTRESS. It will go to readers who subscribe to Harlequin books and also be available in ebook and to people who order the paperback (ie. I’m not sure if it will be in bookstores). The release date is 1 July (my birthday) so you can be sure I’ll have a wonderful birthday this year! It is one of my favourite stories. For anyone interested in grabbing a copy I’m told it’s currently available for $4.99 US/$5.99 CN. To order the paperback send an e-mail to orders@harlequin.ca including your name and complete mailing address in your e-mail.

And for those who have ever been curious about manga or comic book editions, I can share the fact that an English language comic book of THE SHEIKH’S RANSOMED BRIDE is on sale now in kindle edition (I’ve seen it at Amazon and UK Amazon). This is a real first for me! Rafiq looks amazing – a sheikh samurai with a touch of pirate thrown in!

DATES TO KEEP IN MIND

April/May PRINCE OF SCANDAL is released in the UK, then June in Australia and New Zealand, and August in North America.

July RAFE’S REDEMPTION is on sale in North America (ebook or paperback) but it’s also available now by order.

19 August GIRL IN THE BEDOUIN TENT is released in the UK then on 1 October In Australia and New Zealand. North American release to be advised.

November THE SAVAKIS MISTRESS is on sale in North America (Presents Extra).
